From Brocade's Fabric OS Administrator's Guide (#53-1003509-01):
"Connecting to Fabric OS through the serial port" - In a Windows environment enter the following parameters:

  • Bits per second - 9600
  • Data bits - 8
  • Parity - None
  • Stop bits - 1
  • Flow control - None

The number of the COM port depends on your desktop. Go to Control Panel, Device Management, Ports (COM & LPT). It would be one of the COM ports listed.

HP P2000G3 SAS Crasiest Bug EVER !

i have a server in production = C7000G2 + Bl460g6 x3 + P712m + P2000g3 SAS

running server 2012 r2,

everything work perfectly.

i bought used the exact same parts, to build another setup similar,

all part as been upgraded to last firmware and drivers alone with server 2012 r2 up to date.

here the bug :

IF  Vdisk owner is A nothing is working, the servers hang with this error on each :

id 129
hpciss2
Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.

if i switch to owner B , everything is working back again..

if i shutdown the unit and remove controller B and reboot, i will have in the GUI

Vdisk  Current owner A and preferred owner B . data will flow perfectly :) if switch the preferred owner to A when Vdisk is already attribuated to A anyway as B is not there, the data will stop flowing and will get error again !!!

here what i tested :

swaped with 6x P2000g3 sas controllers i had on shelf, 2 P2000g3 enclosures , different SFF-8088 cabling, Dl385G7 fresh install with 2012 r2 and 2016 with HBA 221 to avoid using the C7000G2 and the switchs, its always the same storry.

im using last version in the P2000g3 = TS252P001

i also tried with 2 old version controller = TS240 . its always the same thing.

i tried with D2700 enclosure added to test 2 2.5'' disk, tried NRAID with a single disk,

ITS ALWAYS THE SAME BUGGG !!!

if the Preffered owner is A im done.

i worked 14 days triying everything , i cant sleep , i never face such issue.

your help will be more than appreciated. thx...

Expanding vDisk in EVA

I am hoping someone can help me.

I am fairly new to HP Storage and my company has two large HP SAN's running the EVA interface. I have recently added new disks to one and expanded some of the vDisks fine. I am trying to now expand a vDisk on the other SAN (which I have not added new disks to, but has over 3 TBs of free storage) and when I type in the new 'Requested' storage figure, it asks me to confirm deletion of the vDisk.

It did not do this on my previous expansion, and the deletion question has rather put me off trying to expand this. Why would it be asking me to delete?

Hi,

I have an HP clustered storage infrustructure, my engineer use a wrong cable to attach to the nexus switch. And add to the volue. Once the re-striping started I got an an error message E0060100 EID: Latency_status_Excessive and another error E00060205: EID_S_Server_Status_Overloaded. After 3 days the restriping is 5% in the volume.  Is it possible to change the cable one by one with the right cable. Am afried not to loose my storage. ALB is configured in the NIC.

What cables to use

Hello Forum,

Kind of newbie question, but we've bought a P6550 and 2 EVA4400's
On the P6550 controllers are 4 FC, and 2 SAS ports per controller.
The FC ports are to connect/provide access to servers, and the SAS ports to connect the EVA4400.

Only thing is, cables to EVA are missing and I cant figure out which type to use.
There are Y cables and normal ones
Can anyone provide info on what types are compatible and what is the better option?
or must it always be Ycables?

Tnx

Do you have several EVA models or just the P6550 and a couple of disk chassis? The P6550 is using Y-cables to the disks in order to create 2 "loops" for disk access.

This is P6550 back-end

This is EVA440 shelf (AG638B controller)

AG638B is the M6412 chassis used by EVA4400, the P6000 is using M6625 and M6612 disk chassis.

EVA4400 backend (disks/disk enclosure) is fibre channel, P6000 is SAS.

I guess this won't work.

Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch: FOS 6.0.x

I was recently trying to upgrade the Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch (5480) used by our C-Class Blade Enclosure, and I'm having difficulties finding the correct Fabric OS versions I'll need to upgrade. We're currently on FOS 6.2.0d, and I need a few different versions of 6.0.x until I can jump into FOS 7.0.x, however I'm unable to find them anywhere. I can't find them posted on Brocade's website, HPE Support Center (only showing 7.0.x versions), or elsewhere on the web.

I found a support article (https://community.hpe.com/t5/Storage-Area-Networks-SAN/firmware-brocade-6-0-1a-where-is-it/td-p/5211181) which is from 2011, which says HP has removed them from HPE Support Center and the HP FTP site, and that I should contact HP to have them upload these versions and provide me with links. We're definitely no longer under a support contract, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Are we stuck on 6.2.0d forever because the files I need simply don't exist? I understand products can't be supported indefinitely, although it would be nice if legacy downloads were always available.

Hi everyone.

I'm new to storage. I wanna ask some questions from HP EVA. What are the Reports that we can pull from HP EVA 8400 and how ( step by step process)? And I need some documents for HP EVA 8400 & HP 3PAR Student guide and Lab Guide. Please help me where to find out these documents.

Thanks in advance

I've been through two serial cables (neither OEM, apparently), and I have just ordered a modular kit so that I can wire the serial myself.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the serial cable needed here (RJ45 and serial)?
