Connecting MSA30/MSA20 to MSA100/MSA1500

Hi All,

I have fine workinfg disk arrays consisting of

   1) MSA1000 and one MSA30

   2) MSA1500 with 2  MSA20

They work fine with my OpenVMS system

However  I needed some more disk space. So I connected another MSA30 to the second SCSI connecttion on my MSA1000. I was realy disapointed when the new disks did not show up in the MSA1000 controller: I could only see the "old" disks.

Then I tried to connect a MSA20 to the MSA1500. I had to insert an extra SCSI controler into the MSA1500. But also here only the "old" disk are seen.by the MSA1500 controller. When I login directly to the MSA20 a "show disks" list all the disks. I'm a little worried by the the displayed enclosure id of the MSA20 (which is 01) and is equal to the one displayed on one of the "old" boxes.

What am I missing, and how can I get my MSA1000 & MSA1500 to the the new MSA20 & MSA30 boxes?

                              Regards

                                      Jouk

Hard to read because of the format ...

Looks like the disk 3:16 went bad and is now being vacated, I think it will be shown as failed soon.

Check the events for details.

Check if the number is growing ... if the disk is vacated, it will be shown as failed with a amber LED on.

showpd -s should provide the reason under Detailed_State:  (What HPE 3PAR OS version do you have?)

Id CagePos Type -State- -Detailed_State- -SedState--

Ok, I managed to install Command View 10.3 on Windows Server 2012 and updated EVA's firmware to 11300000.

Then I uninitialized the system using the system settings of the management module at https://192.168.0.1:2373.

Finally, using Windows Server 2012 Command View 10.3, I initialized the system and now everything is working fine at last!!

Thank you so much for your help!

Re: HSG80: what kind of serial cable? +host software to view controllers config

The cable is relatively simple to make yourself. All you need is a RJ11 (6pin) cable and a DB9 (PC serial) female connector. You can use a cable from a telephone or modem. Cut off one RJ11 connector and solder the DB9 to that end.

RJ11       DB9

3+4   ->  5
5       ->   3
2       ->   2

3 and 4 are the two center pins of the RJ11 and they both go to ground (5 at DB9), the two pins left and right from the ground are RECV_DATA and TX_DATA.

P6300 - Bad cabling configuration detected in the backend devices cabling - 2C4D

Hello community,

I recently installed online a new disk enclosure for an already online-upgraded P6300.

Initially they array had 2 disk enclosures. Some time ago I added a third below the others with no issues following the installation instructions.

Now I follow the same steps to add a fourth disk enclosure but it went not that good. Enclosure was recognized with its disks but event log sporadically logs a message like this for both controllers:

***Critical event*** Controller 2 Bad cabling configuration detected in the backend devices cabling. - 0685992d
I've uploaded images with the intermediate 2C3D cabling and the final 2C4D. The initial 2C2D was the same as in the M6625 installation intructions.

No other hardware warnings/alerts in Command View.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Gaisu,

Doing a long press in the reset button should factory reset the module. The leds will all turn off when the reset is complete and the module will restart.

A short press will just reboot it.

Thanks

Hello guys,

I'm trying to present Vdisks to a linux box but with no sucess.

Vdisks are created and presented to Host. At host level (Red Hat 6) after executing hp_scan, fdisk is only showing local disks.

These are brocade configurations:

Consider to uninstall CV and install the current version 10.3 (depending on the FW version of your EVAs).

Hi,

In the company I work in they have the following HBA:

AJ763B/AH403A

The firmware is on 10.6 however in the revision history it jumps from 10.5  - 10.7 does anyone know if 10.6 was pulled for any reason? The OS is Linux 6.4 running on a Brocade Director on v7.4.0b.

The link i'm looking at for firmware is:

http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_8f9b96cbd0ed41e880c174fb62#tab-history

Any help is apprecatied because if its been pulled it had to have been for a reason. Keen to find out why!
